Bolt Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 11, 2025
Overview
Bolt is a Chrome extension that summarizes web content using AI. This policy explains how the service handles user data.
Information We Collect
Page Content
When users click the Bolt icon to summarize a page, text content is extracted and sent to servers for AI processing. This content is not permanently stored unless saved to history and is never collected without explicit user action.
Account Information
Signed-in users have the following data collected:
- Email address from authentication provider
- User preferences and settings
- Summary history (optional)
Usage Data
Anonymized statistics may include summaries generated, feature usage patterns, and error reports.
How We Use Your Information
- Processing page content through AI to generate summaries
- Storing settings and history across devices when signed in
- Analyzing anonymized usage patterns
Third-Party Services
The service uses:
- AI Providers (OpenAI, Anthropic): To generate summaries
- Authentication Provider (NextAuth.js): For sign-in functionality
- Database Provider (Neon): To store accounts and data
Data Sharing
The service does not sell data to third parties, use data for advertising, or share data except as necessary for providing the service.
Data Security
All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption, authentication tokens are stored securely, and industry-standard security practices are followed.
Data Retention
Page content is processed in real-time and not retained unless saved. Account data remains while the account is active. Saved summaries are retained until deleted.
Your Rights
Users can delete accounts and associated data, export saved data, or opt out of usage analytics.
Google API Compliance
Information from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements.
